Death
By Decibels (dBd)
Death By Decibels are a four piece punk / rock band and another welcome addition to the roster of bands playing on Moonlight Radio. Let's hear what they have to say for themselves: The band was formed early 2002 from the ashes of various doomed project bands from around Warrington & Newton-Le-Willows. dBd are:- Matt Frodsham (Lead guitar/Lead Vocals), John Risley (Bass Guitar/Vocals), Iain Tidbury (Rhythm guitar/ Vocals), Lee Gallagher (Drums/ stupid haircut/ vocals). Four very different personalities united by the energy and passion of their music. dBd owe much of their sound to the aggression and ideals of bygone punk rock idols such as The Clash, The Ramones, Billy Bragg intertwined with the modern sounds of Greenday, Rancid and The Dropkick Murphy’s. The four piece all share the same goal of wanting people to drink, dance and sing along to their tunes whether it be in a sweaty, cramped watering hole or blasting from your CD player at a party. To the media, it's punk rock, anthemic pop punk. To dBd, it's a lifestyle. Jump on the bandwagon early to avoid being labeled a sell-out! Influences include, The Clash, Ramones, Dropkick Murphys, & Greenday. Supported Malibu Stacey, Kasabian & Dogs D'Amour and have just secured support for Sham 69 and Dogs D'Amour for 2005 and have been asked to embark on a UK tour with Pnechance promotions to represent the UKs unsigned bands. Warrington Guardian, St Helens Reporter, St Helens Star, Preston post & Merseyrock.co.uk have said things like:
A little more info about the band members: John Risley (Bass Guitar/Vocals) Equipment: Peavey Fury 5 (5 string), Yamaha rbx370b, Marshall 150 Watt amp, BOSS fuzz pedal Best event in career: White Hart New Year 2000. Best sound check ever(Thanks Steve). Being told we may be supporting UK Subs. Supporting Dogs D'Amour and being told they loved us!!! The Dogs said they love us!!! How good is that???They said we were one of the best support bands they had had. And then on the same night finding out we got support slot for Sham69. Oh yeah! being asked to go to a punk festival in Bulgaria!!!!! Worst event in career: WA1 was ok in the end. We played well but the sound check wasn’t very good. We were asked to do 1 hr 15 min set which we practiced for all week, then were told we only got 40 minutes!
Equipment:
Cymbals:
Best event in career: The Legion gig, Penketh. Was packed out and we had a great circle pit!!! Supporting Wonderlust was fantastic @ Star & Garter Manchester but the icing on the cake for me was support for Dogs D'Amour, more so cos they loved us,Specially Danny (bassist) who is one kool guy Worst event in career: Has to be WA1, we played well but there was a few complications. Sound engineer wasnt to helpful. He then spent an hour trying to fix a broken cable with tape, then decided to change it ( We'd e told him it was broken but he wasnt having it lol)
Best event in career: New Years Eve 2000, at white hart because we rocked, everything went right and we got a really good reception!. Supporting Malibu Stacey @ WA1 and being asked to stay back with the band. Dogs D'Amour support was amazing. Worst event in career: WA1 Club (not support for Malibu Stacey) because as Froj said there were problems galore. We got messed around like you wouldn’t believe but we still kicked !!!
Matt Frodsham (Lead guitar/Lead Vocals)
Best event in career: Supporting Dogs D'Amour @ Carling Academy, Liverpool. Most gigs apart from a couple that don’t need mentioning before we had Lee, he rocks hard!… White Hart usually kicks though. Worst event in career: WA1. Not exactly venues fault, just a bad night. We got up, played and rocked anyway. The fans requested an encore, even though the sound was messed up but I wouldn’t want to go through the stress again lol. It is the only gig we would have contemplated canceling.
