SADIE HAWKINS DANCE

WELCOME to the glitter-soaked world of SADIE HAWKINS DANCE, the most dangerous, infectiously catchy ensemble to blast out of South Cumbria* since Legionnaire’s disease.

Reinventing GLAM - GLittery Anthemic Melodic - Rock, SHD’s recipe is a secret blend of white-knuckle tandem guitar riffs, complimented by a smattering of pop punk, metal, and a tang of bitter lyricism.

Leading the troupe is frontwoman Crystal Grenade, an explosive combination of the power vocal stylings of Skin, the dress sensibility of Penny Crayon and the posturings of Freddie Mercury, all lacquered perfectly into place with umpteen cans of glitter spray.

Although the band have only been gigging since September 2003, they share over 50 years live experience between them (despite the average member age being 24), inculpating a chequered band history that involved major labels and multinational tours.

With two inventively-named, self-financed EP releases under their belt (2003's The Demo, and 2004's The EP - both sold out of runs of 500), SADIE HAWKINS DANCE have supported the likes of The Glitterati, The Thermals, No Comply, Phinius Gage, Vice Squad, UK Subs, Antiproduct and THE Dogs d’Amour.

The SADIE HAWKINS DANCE song Natural Failure features in the award-winning film Almost Strangers, in which Crystal stars as The Musician (Guitarist Ezmaloid Fantastico’s hands can also be seen in action in the concert scene!).

2005 sees the band touring Norway, Ireland and Belgium, as well as featuring on an internationally-released split album with Norwegian, Polish, German and Chinese punk bands. There are also further recording and music video plans located somewhere up someone’s sleeve, as well as a whole host of publicity stunts and UK tour dates.

UPCOMING GIG....Thurs 2nd June @ Yorkshire House, Lancaster (with Mysty's Big Adventure (from the US), Little Hero) Doors 8pm, 4 pounds in.
