Mornin Wood

Mornin Wood are another one of those bands we thought it best to let them talk about themselves. For more information on them check out their website www.morninwood.tk or visit our Links page.

Mornin Wood recently played on Fiday 14th January at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool in tribute to the victims of the recent Tsunami Disaster. You can also catch them at the The Zanzibar, Seel Street, Liverpool- Sunday 30th January 2005.

Mornin Wood rose in October of 2003, when Tony Chaloner, Tom Kelly, Liam Rigney and Craig Bunney started a music course at college. After a couple of jams it was clear that they had something. In such a short time they have already achieved much more than they could have imagined, playing regular gigs around Blackpool they started making waves and built up a reputation. The summer brought hard times, the struggle for a bassist held them back, self proclaimed local legend Jon Hill joined as the new bassist as a replacement for Liam. Mornin Wood couldn't afford a demo, they recorded their own at college, it wasn't the best but it managed to get them a gig at Manchester's Roadhouse. Since Manchester they have headlined a festival in Lytham and played at the Zanzibar in Liverpool, yet still keeping up the tradition of playing Blackpool a couple of times each month. Jon left the band to go to uni, so Wil Craig (Addiction) joined as temporary bassist. Liverpool was seen as the big turning point, they stunned locals and were given the appreciation they worked so hard and longed for. They only ever dreamt about what it would be like for people to refer to them as astonishing, incredible and shit-hot!. They just appreciated being part of such an incredible night of music. A return to Liverpool is on the cards and hopefully it will lead to something they deserve. For a band who have not even know each other a year they have achieved rather a lot of success in a short amount of time. They have supported the likes of The Love Gods (who toured with the Fun Lovin Criminals, and supported The Darkness) they recently played with Vincents Ear(from California who have supported the Queens of the Stone Age) and many other fine local bands.

Everybody here at Moonlight Radio hopes this band achieve even more success in the year 2005. We'll certainly be keeping an eye on them!!!
